I received my Bachelor's Degree from Purdue University in both Psychology and Gender Studies in 2007 and my Master's Degree from Roosevelt University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2009. I completed Live Oak's 45 hour Post Graduate Fellowship Training in LGBTQ+ Affirmative Practice in 2010. After graduating I began my clinical career working at the Sonia Shankman Orthogenic School as a dorm counselor in their (now closed) residential therapy program.
In 2012 I began working as a psychotherapist at Live Oak, specializing in gender and sexual diversity. I was fortunate to be in consultation with individuals of all variety of backgrounds, both professionally and personally. While at Live Oak, I coordinated the graduate intern and fellowship training programs, conducted group supervision for trainees, provided 1:1 clinical supervision to staff, and eventually managed all of the internal and external professional development programs. In 2017 I attended the Evanston Family Therapy Center’s Intensive Narrative Therapy program, and realized the incredible power of Narrative work. I continue to be in consultation around my Narrative practice, working to continue to deepen my skills. I'm not much for jargon, and I consider myself to be a client centered narrative therapist.
In 2019 I made the decision to move into private practice, and founded New Constellations Therapy and Consulting. This venture is the representation of all I have learned and continue to learn, and provides me an opportunity to offer services in my own unique fashion. In time, I am hoping to grow New Constellations even further in a way that is intentional and values driven.
I have had the fortunate of being supervised and influenced by many incredible clinicians, who helped shape me into the clinician and person I am today. While I have been influenced by many people - co-workers, colleagues, students, trainees, authors, and many more I am especially grateful to those who have offered me direct supervision and guidance. This list includes Rosa Julia Garcia Rivera, Judith Weirauch, Catherine Chinnock, Bruce Koff, Jeff Levy, Corina Teofilo-Mattson, Jill Freedman and Gene Combs, Suzanne Gazzolo, and Jacqueline Boyd.
In addition to my clinical work, I have offered trainings on gender and sexual diversity nationally and internationally. I have also offered consultation and supervision to many clinicians over the years. You can learn more about my training and consulting. From 2014 to 2020 I was an adjunct professor at Roosevelt University where I taught Theories of Group Counseling and Career Counseling.
