I work with all manner of challenges, concerns, and experiences. I also have a special focus on working with individuals who identify, or are thinking of identifying, as transgender, gender nonconforming, non-binary, gender diverse, lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, asexual, non-monogamous, poly, sexually diverse, etc. I believe there are infinite ways to experience and express sexuality and gender, and we will work together to help you form an identity that feels grounded in authenticity and wholeness. If you are starting to or are thinking about coming out, transitioning, questioning your gender or sexuality, or just trying to understand yourself, we will work together to help you navigate this journey in a way that feels supported and seen. We will examine the impact of larger cultural expectations on this process, focusing on helping you create a narrative that is your own and moving away from what does not serve you.
I operate from an informed consent orientation - that your body is your own, it is my duty to respect your bodily autonomy, and I will assist with you owning your body when I can (such as providing letters to access medical treatment). I believe it is important for individuals to find their own sense of authenticity, in a way that feels true to them, without getting caught up in traditional or expected narratives that can be forced on us.
I work with adults and adolescents. I feel deeply honored by my work with all individuals, and I feel especially appreciative to work with teens who are starting to develop a sense of themselves as unique individuals holding a variety of identities and possibilities. If you are a young person who is starting to write your own identity and struggle through the difficulties of this time, we will work to create a space of trust where you feel truly heard. We will work on crafting a tale that feels hopeful and gives room to let your individual beauty flourish.
In addition to my work with adolescents, I also work with parents. If you are a parent working to understand and support your young person, we can work together to help you find balance and clarity. If you are an LGBTQIA parent, I welcome you to a supportive relationship where we can affirmatively acknowledge all parts of your identities. I approach my work with parents from a place of empathy and compassion, while also providing resources and information when necessary so that parents can better connect with their child.
