1. What are your fees/Do you accept insurance?
My full fee is $150 per 55 minute session. I am in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and United Healthcare Services. I am also able to bill out of network for other insurances. If provided the information, I will do my best to check your insurance benefits before session, but I encourage you to also call or email your insurance company to check your benefits before making an appointment. For those not using insurance, or engaging in self-pay, a Good Faith Estimate will be provided to you at the start of our work together, and whenever requested.
2. How do I find out if my insurance has mental health benefits?
You can call or email your insurance and ask the following questions: 1. Does my plan cover mental health care? (If you are using a plan other than the ones listed above, please ask what your out of network mental health benefits are). 2. What are the limits? Do I need pre-authorization? 3. Do I have a copay or coinsurance, and how much is it? 4. Does my deductible apply, and if so, how much must I pay first? Click Here for information on parity laws for mental health coverage, Click Here for more info on insurance terms.
3. Are you accepting new clients?
At this time I am not taking new therapy clients, and I do not have a waitlist. Because I tend to develop long term relationships with my clients, I do not keep a wait list because I cannot accurately predict openings in my schedule. Two resources for finding therapists can be Psychology Today or Therapy Road. I am still available for training/consultation services a this time.
4. When are you in the office?
I am in the office the following times:
Monday 10-6
Tuesday 10-6
Wednesday 10-6
Thursday 9-6
4. What forms of payment do you accept?
I am able to accept credit/debit cards and Health Savings Account cards.
5. What should I bring to my first session? What should I expect?
For your first session, you only need to bring your insurance card (if applicable) and method of payment. For your first session, we will review initial paperwork such as the statement of agreement (which outlines the terms of therapy), HIPAA paperwork, insurance billing information, etc. We will then spend time discussing who you are, and getting to know more about one another.
6. What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel your session due to a non-urgent issue, please provide me at minimum 24 hours notice. If you have an urgent issue requiring you to reschedule, such as an accident or sudden illness, please contact me as soon as possible. Cancellations outside of this range are subject to a cancellation fee.
7. What sorts of concerns do you work with?
I specialize in work with concerns related to gender and sexual orientation, specifically those thinking of or currently identifying as transgender, gender nonconforming, non-binary, queer, lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual, sexually diverse, etc. I also work with individuals impacted by anxiety, mood dysregulation, depression, trauma, family difficulties, challenges with communication, identity concerns, and life transitions. You can read more here!
8. How do I know we will be a good fit?
Great question! Therapeutic fit is vital to the success of therapy. I am open to phone conversations to answer questions you may have about me, my work, and my ability to work with your specific concerns. I believe honesty is vital to therapy, and I am open to answering questions that will help you determine this goodness of fit. I also welcome feedback on the therapy process from day one, to make sure you are getting what you need out of therapy. Should you determine that I am not the best fit, or if I am unable to accommodate your schedule, I am happy to offer referrals and other resources.
